South Florida wear on German engineering
The VW Group’s plastic cooling parts are the weak point in Broward. Coolant flanges and pump housings that last a long time in a mild climate crack sooner after years of 90-degree afternoons and A/C running daily. A GTI or Tiguan used for short trips around Oakland Park Blvd and Federal Hwy also rarely gets hot enough to burn off moisture, which speeds up oil sludge and carbon buildup.
Dual-clutch transmissions feel the heat as well. DSG and PDK fluid breaks down faster in stop-and-go traffic, and a worn clutch pack shows up as a shudder when pulling away. A fluid service on schedule is far cheaper than a mechatronic unit. Salt air near the beach adds corrosion to brake lines and suspension hardware, so we inspect those on every lift.
