Exhaust symptoms drivers notice
- A louder exhaust than usual, or a ticking sound at cold start from a manifold leak
- Rattling under the car at idle or over bumps
- Exhaust smell in the cabin, which needs attention right away
- A check engine light with catalytic converter or O2 sensor codes
- A sulfur or rotten-egg smell from the tailpipe
- Loss of power from a clogged converter
- Sport exhaust valves stuck open or shut, so the sound button does nothing
How we diagnose exhaust problems
- Scan for faults. We read O2 sensor, catalyst efficiency and exhaust flap codes with factory-level software, and watch live sensor data.
- Lift inspection. We check hangers, heat shields, flex pipes, clamps and welds from the manifold back.
- Leak test. A smoke test finds manifold, gasket and flex pipe leaks that are hard to hear.
- Back-pressure check if a clogged converter is suspected.
- Photos and a written estimate before any repair.
Exhaust repairs we handle
- Manifold and downpipe gaskets, studs and flex pipes
- Hangers, rubber isolators and heat shields
- Mufflers, resonators and mid-pipes
- Catalytic converters and O2 sensors
- Exhaust flap actuators and vacuum lines on sport exhausts
- Diesel particulate filter and EGR faults on Mercedes BlueTEC, Sprinter and other diesels
Performance exhaust and upgrades
We install cat-back, axle-back and valved exhaust systems from established brands, plus intakes and intercooler upgrades. We fit parts to spec and check for fault codes and leaks afterward.
| Upgrade | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Axle-back or cat-back exhaust | Sound and a small weight saving |
| Valved exhaust | Quiet at cruise, louder when you want it |
| Intake and intercooler | Cooler intake air on turbocharged engines in summer heat |
| ECU calibration | Power and throttle response; ask us about warranty effects |
Brand-specific notes
- BMW M and M Performance: Exhaust valve actuators and charge pipes on S55, S58 and B58 engines. M Performance exhaust installs.
- Mercedes-AMG: AMG Performance exhaust valve faults, and manifold and downpipe gasket leaks on M177 and M178 V8 engines.
- Audi RS and S: Exhaust flap faults and secondary air pump codes on V8 and V10 engines.
- Porsche: Sport exhaust (PSE) valve and vacuum line faults on 911, Cayman, Macan and Cayenne models.
- Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren: Exhaust valve actuators, heat shields and manifold leaks on V8, V10 and V12 engines, where heat in the rear engine bay is extreme.
Why South Florida is hard on exhaust systems
Salt air is the main cause. Cars that live near the beach, along A1A or by the Intracoastal see faster rust on hangers, clamps and heat shields. Heavy summer rain and flooded streets splash water onto hot exhaust parts. Short trips leave condensation in mufflers, which rusts them from the inside. Heat in traffic also cooks rubber hangers until they crack and let the exhaust sag.
What to expect on your visit
Walk in at either shop or book ahead. We scan the car, inspect the exhaust on a lift and send photos with a written estimate. For upgrades, we go over sound, legality and warranty with you before ordering parts. Repairs carry our 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty.
