EVs and hybrids we service
We work on electric and hybrid cars of every make, including:
- Tesla: Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck
- Rivian R1T and R1S, Lucid Air and Gravity
- Porsche Taycan and Macan Electric, Audi e-tron, Q8 e-tron and e-tron GT
- BMW i3, i4, i5, i7 and iX, Mercedes-Benz EQS, EQE and EQB, MINI Electric
- Volvo and Polestar EVs and Recharge plug-ins, Jaguar I-PACE
- Domestic and Asian EVs: Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet Bolt and Equinox EV, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 6, Kia EV6 and EV9
- Hybrids: Toyota Prius, Camry and RAV4 Hybrid, Lexus hybrids, Honda and Ford hybrids, plus European plug-in hybrids
What EV and hybrid service includes
- High-voltage battery diagnostics: cell balance, isolation faults, state-of-health readings
- Thermal management: battery coolant loop, pumps, valves, chillers and heat pumps
- Charging faults: on-board charger, charge port and door, charge cable and communication errors
- 12V, 16V and 48V systems: battery testing and replacement, DC-DC converter faults
- Cabin climate and A/C, which also cools the battery on many EVs
- Brakes: regenerative braking checks, caliper service, brake fluid flushes and seized slide pins from light pad use
- Tires, alignment and suspension, including air suspension on Rivian, Lucid, Tesla Model S and X, and Taycan
- Body, paint and glass with ADAS camera calibration
- Hybrid engine service: oil changes, spark plugs, cooling and inverter coolant
EV problems we see most in South Florida
| Symptom | Common cause | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Car won’t wake up or open | Weak 12V or 16V low-voltage battery | Battery test, parasitic draw, DC-DC output |
| Range drops in summer | Battery cooling working overtime, heat-pump faults | Coolant level, pump and valve operation, A/C performance |
| Clunks over bumps | Worn control arms and bushings from EV weight | Front and rear suspension, alignment |
| Grinding or pulsing brakes | Rust and glazing on rotors that rarely get used hard | Pads, rotors, slides, fluid |
| Tires wearing fast | Heavy cars, instant torque, alignment drift | Tread depth, alignment readings, rotation |
| Charging stops or fails | Charge port, on-board charger or software fault | Fault codes, port pins, charge session logs |
Broward heat is a big factor. Battery packs and low-voltage batteries age faster when the car is parked in the sun, and the thermal system works harder on every drive along I-95 or US-1 in July.
EV tires and brakes
EVs are heavy and quick, and they eat tires. We fit EV-rated tires with the right load index, mount foam-lined tires without damaging the foam, road-force balance them, and align to factory specs. Regenerative braking means the friction brakes do less work, so rotors rust and calipers stick. A yearly brake check keeps them healthy. See tires and wheel alignment.
How an EV visit works
- Check-in and scan. We read fault codes from every module and record battery state of health where the car reports it.
- Photo inspection. You see tires, brakes, suspension and any leaks on your phone.
- Written estimate. Urgent items are separated from items that can wait.
- Repair and verify. After you approve, we repair, re-scan and road test. Repairs carry our 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty.
Buying a used EV
A used EV’s value rides on its battery. Our pre-purchase inspection includes battery health readings where the car allows it, charging tests and a full suspension and tire check.
Bring your EV or hybrid to Oakland Park or Fort Lauderdale any day, 8 AM – 7 PM. No appointment is needed, and we speak English and Spanish.
