ADAS calibration after windshield replacement
Most cars built in the last several years have a camera mounted at the top of the windshield. It feeds lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise, traffic-sign recognition and automatic emergency braking. Some cars also have a rain and light sensor, a heads-up display projector or night-vision hardware that depends on the glass.
When the windshield changes, the camera’s view changes. Even a small shift can make the car read a lane line a few inches off. That is why we treat calibration as part of the job, not an extra:
| Calibration type | How it works | Common on |
|---|---|---|
| Static | Targets are set at measured distances in front of the car while the scan tool aims the camera | Many Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Volvo and Porsche models |
| Dynamic | The car is driven on marked roads at set speeds while the camera learns its position | Many BMW and some Mercedes-Benz models |
| Both | Static setup followed by a confirmation drive | Several late-model European cars |
We use BMW ISTA, Mercedes XENTRY and VW/Audi ODIS-level tools to start the calibration routine and confirm it finished. You get a printout or screenshot showing the result.
Tesla, Rivian and EV glass
Tesla glass roofs, Model 3 and Model Y rear glass and the Autopilot camera housing need careful handling. Rivian and Lucid windshields carry their own camera arrays. We replace the glass, check that the camera bracket is seated, and run the vehicle’s calibration routine. For other EV work, see our EV and hybrid service page.
Water leaks and sunroof drains
A wet footwell after a summer storm is a common South Florida complaint, and it is more than a damp carpet. Many BMW, Mercedes and VW Group cars put control modules and wiring low in the footwells or trunk. Water there can cause electrical faults weeks later. Our process:
- Find the source with water testing and a visual inspection of drains, seals and membranes.
- Repair it: clear and reroute drains, reseal glass or replace membranes.
- Dry and check the carpet, padding and any modules that got wet, and scan for stored faults.
If a leak has already caused electrical trouble, our electrical and coding team handles that in the same visit.
Glass after a collision
Broken glass is often part of a larger repair. Because body, paint and glass are all in house, we replace the glass, repair the surrounding panels and calibrate the cameras in one place. See collision repair.
